Recommendations for using tap water during floods
Water is not clear, cloudy water, yellowish color and unpleasant odor are still complaints in many areas. Because of the above-mentioned changes, people who consume water are not confident in the quality of water. Swiss Thai Water Solutions Company therefore recognizes the importance of having clean water. Therefore, the recommendations of the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MEA) have been used to recommend the use of tap water in the event of flooding, 7 items as follows:
1.) Use of tap water in the residence
In the event if your residence has an underground water tank that affected by the flood, you should refrain from using water through source for a while. Then switch to tap water from the internal pipe that is directly connected from the water meter instead. Because the flooded water may flow into the ground water tank which causing the water to be unsuitable for use. If the level of flooding water still does not reach to your ground water reserve tank, you should prepare to protect that water reserve tank in advance.

In case the faucet is submerged in water, you can use a clean hose to connect the faucet and then raise up to higher position, then you will be able to use water normally.

4.) Using tap water from the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority
The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority has been produced and metered into the plumbing system. Also, it has been verified by reliable scientists and institutions. Especially during the flood crisis, public health agencies such as the Department of Health, Department of Medical Sciences, Ministry of Public Health and Faculty of Public Health Mahidol University have inspected the quality of raw water and tap water and confirmed that the tap water meets the drinking water standards of the World Health Organization. It is not dangerous as it does not contain toxins and germs.
5.) The smell of chlorine in the tap water in the house
Currently, the PWA has increased the amount of chlorine to kill germs. Therefore, there may be a smell of chlorine in the tap water at home. You can reduce the chlorine smell by placing tap water in an open container and leave it for about 30 minutes. The chlorine smell will evaporate or may be boiled before drinking.
